Christmas Holiday
Situation:
With a great portion of the project done, we started to add a little more to the game. As such I revised most of my work and decided to added a few things to the project to make it better and more easily digestible. The UV in the books were not as usable as we had initially wanted to Leo asked to change them to be a bit more player friendly.
Task:
-We needed to further optimize the UV to match the levels.
-We needed to make the cutscenes better.
-We needed to format the GDD and add on to the documentation.
-We needed a representation of the player.
-We needed a cutscene for the Punish/Pardon segment.
-We needed Widgets to for the start, chapters and the end.
Action:
For the big break we had a lot of things planned. I started by making the cutscene for the punish/pardon mechanic. As I had plenty of experience by now, this was fairly easy and was done within a day. I then decided to give player a physical body by adding the Angel model. I started adding the angel in the previous cutscenes and also replaced some of the models with better models and animations like with the damsel. I then went ahead and started manipulating the scene of each cutscene until I was satisfied. I then added different widget to each cutscene as appropriate.
I began playing with the map and the UV map of the book to make the levels more accessible on the later half of the holiday. I stretched out the UV and made the two pages fall into each other so the player always knows where he is when he is in the middle of the book.
Once I was finished with the tasks, Leo passed on the GDD which he had formatted using my documentation and I added all the information relevant to me.
Result:
The cutscenes looked better and new cutscene was added to better signify the pardon/punish mechanic. The game was playable thanks to the new UV and we almost finished the GDD.
Summary:
With Christmas holidays starting, we decided to polish the project as much as we think we needed to as we had to focus on other projects which we had ignored to put effort into this one. We added some changes to make the game better and made some crucial changes for the UV maps that we were previously unaware of. The amount of work done here was extensive but the work individually were quite minute. We did manage to create everything so we were just adding the finishing touches except the mic I was hoping to use never came.
