Week 10

Situation:

With the second cutscene assembled, we needed the voice lines for it. We also needed to start the final cutscene.

Task:

Narrate the second cutscene and get started on the final cutscene.

Action:

I got back on the narrative with AI voice changer and got the whole cutscene done within an hour as it didn't have many lines. After which I started the final cutscene. The final cutscene encompasses a huge part of the game and I had a lot of interesting ideas. I played around with the actors in the cutscenes to find a solid idea of what I wanted to show at the end of the game. I started by making the cutscene flow back from the game camera just as the first scene flowed into it. To add some horror element, I decided to add some visual push and pull of the book like it's possessed and added suitable audio. As the cutscene flowed, I ensured to make the most use of the camera to push the idea of a first person view. This was to help the player narratively understand that they are looking on to the protagonist rather than being the protagonist.

Finally, as I closed out the sequence, I decided to add one more jump scare when the player was leaving, trying to add more elements to make it scary as per Hope's previous suggestions. It wasn't fully finished but I had done majority of the things I needed to accomplish.

Result:

The cutscenes were slowly coming together and I was able to do most of the final cutscene.

Summary:

As we were getting closer to the Christmas break, we decided to do as much as we can to ensure we don't have to do more than we need to during Christmas due to amount of work we had in other modules. We followed our projections and the cutscenes were coming around in due time while Leo was fully prepared with his level design.
